Today marks the start of the PPMA- Established national observance, Rodent Awareness Week. To celebrate the occasion, we’ve simultaneously launched a brand new and visually stunning demonstration that shows just how much pests, including mice and rats, can leave behind on the surfaces they touch, in our new series, “Out of Sight.”
“Out of Sight” conveys to consumers the importance of working with a pest control professional at the first sign of a rodent or cockroach infestation — before it gets out of hand. With the help of our partners at the New Orleans Mosquito, Termite & Rodent Control Board, PPMA showcases just how much ground pests can cover when left undisturbed and the hidden trails they can leave behind.
We recorded these pests in everyday home environments, first dipping their feet and legs in a florescent powder before setting them loose in a kitchen and bathroom. We then flipped the switch and let the chilling results shown under UV light speak for themselves. The reveal? An entire room and its contents covered in tracks, from their legs and feet to the abdomens and tails they drag along with them. This visual demonstration will help educate consumers on the dangerous and sometimes deadly pathogens various pests can transmit to humans on shared surfaces. Capturing these hidden trails, we are creating an episodic series to show what can really happen when the lights are turned off and pests seem out of sight.
PPMA has also designed and built its PestWorld.org – associated property OutofSight.PestWorld.org , that will provide the digital destination where people can watch the six-episode series (coming soon this November!), and learn more about the various rodent and cockroach species found in the U.S. and the diseases they carry. They’ll also find information about prevention tips and the importance of partnering with a pest control professional for prevention and control if needed.
