Mouse in the house: Summer draws to an end and autumn leaves begin to turn. Baseball wraps up for another season, the kids are back in school and football is just on the horizon. But, wait! Something else happens in the autumn months that you may not be aware of. The great exodus of rodents making their way back into your home to settle down for a long winter’s nap.

Well, that’s only partially true. Rodents will be making their way back into your home, but they won’t be settling down for a long winter’s nap. A more accurate description is that the rodents will be settling in for a long winter’s SNACK. Your home is the snack and it’s just one long “all you can eat” buffet for the hungry mice. They depend on you to provide their food supply until the warm weather returns.

The rodents come bearing gifts too. Pellet size mouse droppings, gnawed upon food, furniture and personal belongings. Remember your favorite cashmere sweater that you tossed in the back of the closet last spring to make room for your summer garb? No worries. It will make a lovely home for Mommy mouse and her little mice.

And, don’t forget the shrieks of delight you will emit when you see a mouse scurry across your kitchen floor. Oh, what fun that will be! And, when you curl up next to a cozy fire, reading that latest best seller, don’t forget that the mice will be looking for warmth too. So, move over. Don’t hog the couch.

Doesn’t sound very appealing, does it? Now is the time to take steps to prevent mice from relocating to your lovely home.

Rodents aren’t cute and adorable, singing songs to the moon. They have but one purpose and that is to sneak around your home, salvaging whatever they need to eat or make a home with and a potty area.
And, a nice warm place to breed and they will breed. A lot.

You will set out your traps, whichever kind you think you can stomach, and then wait for that “snap” sound. You will congratulate yourself on a job well done. Until a few days pass and you see more droppings. And, the peanut butter cracker package that your son left on the kitchen counter has been gnawed upon.

Frustration sets in. You set out yet another trap. Bait the trap with cheese. The next day, the bait is gone and the trap didn’t snap. How can this be? Is the mouse a Houdini Mouse?

Mice are crafty and they learn to avoid traps. They can even take the bait without springing the trap.

You think to yourself, “It’s just a mouse! I have a college degree! How can these mice outsmart me?”

Well, they can. And, they do.

And, as you circle the room trying to solve the puzzle of the missing bait? Somewhere in a dark corner, there is a mouse watching you, enjoying the piece of cheese you left in the trap and he’s grinning at you.

Game on!

Save yourself the aggravation and anxiety. Hire a professional before the mice settle in and wreak havoc in your home and on your nerves..

Mice carry disease, spread germs and can do serious damage to your home and personal belongings.
